Website Redesign
Earth 911

This project is a completion of a project for my interaction design course. The project was to optimize the target user's experience by redesigning the website. After sifting through the current website, I came up with design ideas and solutions for the Earth911 website.
Background
Earth911 is an environmental company founded in 1991 that is committed to sustainability. Earth911 is a publisher that provides free recycled materials to residents throughout the United States. Its primary purpose is to restore resources through recycling and reprocessing. Resource recovery is good for the environment and helps promote awareness of diminishing resources. However, the complex website structure and the menu bar are leading users into disorientation. Even the management of the site's content strategy is somewhat lacking. For improving the site, the project will address and optimize the site by understanding the target users, branding discovery, and the pain point needs of the target users.
Problem statement
With the growing awareness of the environment, there is a need to find a platform to recycle excess resources so as not to waste them.
Target User Group
1. Primary: Young adults’ group (18~35-year-old) (50%)
The target group is young adults because this generation of young people lives in the Internet era and is exposed to a very large amount of information. They get a lot of information from social media every day, so the concept of environmental awareness has been formed in their minds.
2. Secondary: Middle-age’s group (35 ~ 55-year-old) (40%)
The second group is more focused on the middle-aged group. The middle-aged group is the most monetarily capable of the three groups. They are generally the parents of young adults. They are in an era when information on the Internet is just opening up and their ability to receive information is not very strong. Therefore, it is relatively not very difficult to make them build environmental awareness.
3. Tertiary: older adults’ group (After 55-year-old) (10%)
The third group of people is the elderly. Older people did not live in the era when the Internet was developed or started. They may not have received a lot of relevant information about protecting the environment. Therefore, it is relatively complicated for them to build environmental awareness.
Goal and Messaging
Earth911, an environmental resource platform dedicated to sustainability, offers several types of recycling locations and methods to provide a safer and more reliable program.
Business Goal: To provide a platform for environmentally conscious people to recycle resources and promote the concept of environmental awareness.

Conclusion
Through this project, I think I became proficient and mastered the skills of website design and the specifications of the layout. I also learned to design the best website by integrating the brand identity, business objectives, and user needs. I realized that the design process is constantly being optimized and updated. Whether it's desktop, tablet, or mobile, we need to consider different devices' user interfaces and user experience.
Design is not only about designing the perfect product, but the perfect product also needs to serve the user. Therefore, having a good design strategy and user experience is what a good product needs to achieve.
